Presentation
:
Waste-to-Energy Potential for Kingston's Non-Recyclable Materials
There has been significant progress in pulling together viable technologies to improve the energy production from non-recyclable municipal and industrial wastes materials. This presentation will examine an integrated process for energy production (electricity or thermal, or both) that turns waste material into a resource for the municipality. The approach will provide energy while also significantly reducing waste disposal costs.
Presenter
:
Bob Willes
Managing Director
XT Energy Group Ltd.
Over the past 35 years, Bob has played key roles in the permitting and supervising compliance of a number of waste landfills, waste-to-energy mass-burn facilities, hazardous waste incinerators, landfills, industrial waste-water treatment plants, petroleum refineries and pipelines in Canada. Bob also founded a Brownfield Development company that purchased and remediated contaminated properties for re-development. The largest re-developments were Windemere-By-The-Lake (20 acres) in Toronto and Faubourg Boisbriand (165 acres) in Montreal. For the past 8 years his expertise and experience have been focused on applying renewable energy development strategies, particularly solar, solid recovered fuel (SRF) energy plants and Algae-CO2 Capture Systems. Bob completed his B.Sc./M.Sc. at the University of Alberta, and his Ph.D. at the University of California (Davis).
