SWITCH Open Meeting - December 2021
Dr. E. Maria Skordaki:

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) from Federal Government facilities - A Nation-wide Study

When: December 3rd, 2021 | 8:00am
Where: ZoomFREE Event!

Effective action in energy management with a view to reducing GHG emissions is critical as the effects of climate change are becoming increasingly evident in Canada and internationally. Ongoing efforts have been made within the Federal Government and Department of National Defense (DND) in order to best mitigate GHG emissions on a base and achieve the current DND regulations’ mandated goals. With over 120 locations in Canada and 20,000 buildings, there is a significant opportunity for DND to investigate energy usage and reduce GHG emissions nationwide.
The Royal Military College (RMC) Green Team, has conducted greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions studies to support planning authorities in developing sustainable strategies and energy planning practices that aim to minimize GHG emissions by Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) infrastructures. The purpose of this presentation is to share our Team’s understanding of the current practices regarding GHG emissions, data capture and data recording for achieving further reductions in support of The Government of Canada's greening strategy.
