This talk will introduce power electronics technology, a vital discipline at the heart of electrical power conversion. The role of power electronics in enabling higher penetration of intermittent renewable energy sources will be highlighted. The presentation will focus on grid-connected and grid-forming PV inverters technology as an application. Future challenges and opportunities for the transition towards a decentralized power grid will be highlighted.
Background on Abhishek Awasthi (Student Member, IEEE)
Abhishek Awasthi (Student Member, IEEE) received the B.Tech. degree in electrical engineering from the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad, Prayagraj, India, in 2016, and the M.A.Sc. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Queen's
University, Kingston, ON, Canada, in 2019. He is currently working toward the PhD degree in electrical computer engineering from Queen's University.
